Café Tortoni: the oldest café in Buenos Aires and one of the most iconic in Latin America. Founded in 1858 by French immigrant Jean Touan in homage to the celebrated Café Tortoni in Paris, its marble and oak tables were the meeting point for the most important figures in Argentine and world culture for over a century: Carlos Gardel, Jorge Luis Borges, Federico García Lorca, Julio Cortázar and Arthur Rubinstein, among many others.

Declared a Notable Bar of the City of Buenos Aires and the third most visited tourist attraction in the capital, Café Tortoni preserves intact its 1898 French academic-style architecture designed by Alejandro Christophersen. Hot chocolate with churros is the signature order. The Eladia Blázquez room hosts live tango shows.
